The 1970s, onwards witnessed the advancing of fashion eyewear with a prodigious ascent. It was not uncommon for distinctly eyewear-developing entities to receive commissions from fashion houses and brands to design and manufacture collections.
Burberry's stake in the fashion world is reputable. Prior to the mid-2000s, when Burberry wasn't a Luxottica product, the eyewear manufactory Safilo was responsible for maintaining the mantel, and what a charge! Safilo being the oldest eyewear developers in Italy (1878), hailing from the Venetian alps, their prestige as a label and as a manufacturer was a mark of pride. Although, not named Safilo until 1934, the esteem was sustained, insomuch that Safilo is responsible for the creation of the concept of "Designer Eyewear".
Safilo's contract with Burberry had the production reaching throughout Europe, essentially endeavoring to present eyewear uniquely to retain the Burberry mark of craft. Adorned with the Burberry Tartan and/or the Burberry Equestrian Knight, at times, Burberry is easily identified by their style and concept.
