Cazal Eyewear 867 Sunglasses
Personifying the early ages of 'street culture' or 'street-ware', before the idea was even conceived, Cazal is noted as the eyewear of said culture. The 867 has something of a 'poster child' identity. Frankly, the idiosyncratic Cazal design philosophy in abstraction and asymmetry, as well as bedazzled adorning, afforded a unique renown in culture and eyewear history. When the 867 was released in 1987, Cazal was well-imbued in the 'street-ware' zeitgeist. The avant-gard nature of Cazal was manifested by an allure in unobtainability. The appeal of the designs would enthrall and attract, yes. Blurring the lines of design norms and iconoclastically establishing itself in a category of its own. Something of a standard being set in eyewear design academia. Yet, the Cazal influence on culture would find something special and profound. Influencing identity, portraying itself in music and movies; lending itself to an era, now celebrated as the cornerstone of the hip-hop culture look. An example of such significance of both Cazal, overall and the 867 is appearing on the album cover of Teflon Don, worn by Rick Ross.
